Good Things Happening for Mobile Learning Developers
This article goes into Verizon’s decision to open their architecture and implement Google’s Android operating system in the near future. From a consumer’s perspective, this is a great thing since the second largest wireless provider in the US is going to open up their network for development (hopefully this is not all hype from them). This development should insure future innovations and possibly even lower prices since the OS is open and free for the wireless providers.
But the bigger development here is the infusion of a robust, open operating system on more devices. Having an open and powerful OS for developers to build on will allow us m-Learning developers to create all sorts of applications with higher hopes of them actually making it onto a device. This is yet another step in the opening of the mobile world so we can download highly interactive m-learning on devices like we can on the PC.
I really hope Verizon comes through on this, it would be great for m-Learning and mobile development in general.
